One of Jeff’s beliefs about wordpress is that no following tags and categories in wordpress is a bad idea.
He says he consistently gets more traffic by leaving the tags and categories in his wordpress installations followed.
This flies right in the face of a lot of professional SEO’ers out there but he has been seeing positive results by doing this for years.
I have made these changes and have noticed a much higher value with using wordpress as the software that powers my website by allowing tags and categories to be followed.
For those unfamiliar with this debate many believe that tags and categories create duplicate content which Google search engine hates.
What people don’t understand is that Google is smart enough to simply not index what it sees as duplicate content but continue to index things it sees as unique content.
So the point is that Google will still index your content that it deems original while not indexing the very same content elsewhere.
This means your content is still getting indexed but you are just letting Google figure that out while taking advantage of very high rankings for your tags and categories in wordpress.
